An autoresponder -service is a 'must have' service as part of an Internet marketer's box of tools. With your subscription to this online service, the marketer can set up an email message to automatically be delivered to his/her list every week to stay in touch with your subscribers. Offering them free products or services is a good way to have them like you and build trust over time. Here are some do's and don'ts I have found that work best.
1) When employing your autoresponder to recommend the purchase of a product or service, you have to be careful how you word your messages. You can make or break the sale with the right or wrong approach. You should not slam your list right off with a product you're pushing to sell, many of them will be offended and likely unsubscribe from your list. Keep building on what the problem is, and how your product or service can solve that problem for them.
2) In your first email, welcome them and thank them for subscribing to your list. Tell them benefits they will receive from you, such as free ebooks, free audio files, and free software. Much of this is available for free on the internet and will not cost you anything to send it on to them except the minimal time it takes to copy a file and add the link to it into your email to your list. Give them hyperlinks to 1-3 products they can obtain for free. You are getting them to like you and build trust. Do not try to sell them anything in the first email message.
3) THIS IS THE BIG TRICK: In the second email to your list, do the same thing but with a 'twist.'. Again, send them 2-3 hyperlinks where they can go to obtain free products related to the nature of your list. You are still building those like and trust factors. This time, make your second and third links be 'affiliate links' from other marketers' sites you have joined as an affiliate. (*) These are still free products, such as free membership to a site that offers many free items, and some for sale also. (*) You hide your longer affiliate link behind a new link you can make at tinyurl.com, for free that is shorter and [key factor] does not look like an affiliate link, so you don't tip them off. When they click on it (as they have become accustomed to do) they will go to the free membership site or whatever item it is, get the free item and hopefully also buy one of the other items for sale.
4) In the third email to them, do the same thing again. Send them 3 links where they can go to obtain either a free software program, a free audio, or a free ebook. You are still building those all important like me and trust factors. Again you should send them [the second and third link disguised as an affiliate item] you can earn a commission on. You hide your longer affiliate link behind a new link you can make at tinyurl.com, for free. This is a huge trick it took me a year to learn. This is how you build your sales with autoresponder email messages.
5) With each email message, be sure you are giving the customer information related to the topic - - free information! This is what will keep them interested in what you have to tell them.
6) This is the pattern you should follow for the first three months, and possibly longer. It is most likely by the end of the first month (by the fourth email to your list) some of your list will also buy some of the for sale products also offered at the free sites and you start to see some commission checks, or payments go into your paypal account. By disuising you affiliate link the way I described, they will never know your affiliate connection to the free items.
7) Even so, remember it is a well known fact in marketing that visitors usually have to be exposed to an offer seven times before they decide to buy. Sales may start slowly, but just get it started is the big challenge. You will learn more ways to build sales as time goes on.
